2012 erie wedding season over?

I finally reached my last wedding of 2012! and I look forward to serving every one in 2013, 2014 and beyond!

What an incredibly great 2012 season and it could not have gone any better!
I was so happy to help so many Brides and Grooms on their special day! ok.. lets cut with the cheesy stuff hahaha, This year.. just when I thought a wedding reception was going to be awesome and I would have a packed dance floor, people were gonna party, people were gonna get crazy because of who you thought the bride and groom were.. it didnt happen the way I envisioned! haha but the formalities like "intro of the bridal party" and "father/daughter" and "mother/son"dances were extra special! and were great unforgettable  moments, does that make it a horrible reception?  But just when I thought someones wedding was gonna be a little shaky in terms of dancing and getting people moving(because of what they told me about their guests being boring and older) it turned out waaaaay way better! and the wedding reception moments went great and people danced their butts off!

As a professional DJ you make the best out of any situation and push really hard to make that event everything that the B& G wanted! okay.. so is dancing everything that matters at a wedding reception ? yes and no.. you have to consider the value of a DJ, a DJ can make or break a reception.. if they do not pronounce your name right for the introduction of the bridal party entrance.. or they do not have the song you wanted for your "first dance" that can make the reception horrible, no matter how many people dance and get crazy! ok so is dancing all the matters at a reception?
If you invite boring people, you are going to have a boring reception!!!! no matter how good the DJ is!!
So what am I saying? please... help the DJ out and invite people that are young and vibrant, invite people that will dance and have a great time! even tho you are not that close to them.. invite them to help the "party" side of your reception!

So my 2012 wedding season has ended with a great wedding reception where the B&G told me that their reception might not have a lot of people dancing and could be kind of boring, however it turned out that people danced all night and I had a great time as their DJ.

My 2012 wedding season started out with a wedding where only a few people danced, but when I looked at the crowd and they were all in their 40s and a lot older.. it all made sense.

I just want to thank all my clients for choosing me as their Wedding DJ, and look forward to future receptions and doing the best job possible!!

An emotional.. but FUN wedding - www.djhenrygq.com

Well... the 2012 wedding season is winding down, I.. myself only have 4 more left! I'm sure this will change next year as more people find out about my service!
Every year I learn so much about people in my industry and the clients I serve. Every time i sit down with a bride I learn more about myself, and how I can truly make their wedding that much more special!
Typically at a wedding reception you play the hottest songs mixed in with some line dancing songs and some good ol' oldies songs. The Reception I DJ'd at this past Saturday.. was truly touching, the brides father passed away and everyone involved knew it was a difficult moment when it was time for the "father - daughter' dance, well she wanted to involve her uncle.. and we named it the "uncle - daughter" dance. The dance went over beautifully, until she started tearing up... luckily we had a plan! her father.. loved classic rock, and had his favorite songs that he would jam to when she was a kid.. well thats where I stepped in, as soon as seen her tearing up.. I cut the song and went right into some classic "feel good" rock songs(zz top, the who, the doors), the family gathered around and helped her get in a better mood, they all had a great "air guitar" session right on the dance floor... (read on)

The great thing about this... was some of the classic rock that I was able to play in memory of her father, all his friends, family and especially the daughter, the bride appreciated it. This wedding was truly different from any other wedding that I have done.. and it felt good! An emotional but FUN reception, It felt good to make her happy and it was played right just enough to honor her father without taking away from her special day. one word ? touching ~ DJ Henry GQ - www.djhenrygq.com

Dj In Erie, Pennsylvania - Wedding reception DJ - www.djhenrygq.com

This week I was in Conneaut Lake Park! I traveled down from Erie, Pa  to the park to rock a wedding, I had tons of fun with this one!
Now these peopel are not your typical 21,22, or 25 yr old couple that get married, they were in their 30s and have been together forever and even had children =]
They decided to finally make it magical by having their ceremony right on the dock of the park and the reception in the hall over looking the lake
So lets start with the ceremony over on the dock, if you want that "wow" factor.. this is the place! why not I mean its over looking the lake? sooo beautiful! so my job here was to set up the sound for that so the pastor can work his magic and join these 2 beautiful people in matrimony. the weather was beautiful! the lake was calm! everything was working in their favor! but wow.. was it extremely hot! sweating form the time i set up till the time I tore down all my sound equipment!

Next up was the reception with equally beautiful views I think many, many people were happy! the staff was accommodating and the food was excellent! I actually had the chance to take some home, since I dont like eating in front of everyone. We went thru all the traditional moments except the garter and bouquet toss, father/daughter dance. But everything else was great! all the friends and family danced the night away. I almost stayed the night was so tired.

Did I tell the bride looked beautiful? yes.. I'm sure her husband is very happy now :)

DJ Henry GQ - www.djhenrygq.com - Erie Wedding DJ

Ok,
So I was the DJ at a wedding this past Saturday for 2 special ladies! yes... 2 females. They got hitched in NY and had their reception on the beach, right off of Beach 1 at Presque Isle State Park in Erie, Pennsylvania

But let me first start by saying that I was in a recent accident, I was boating with a friend of mine lost my balance and fell off the boat and hit the cleat(its the metal part that you tie the rope to anchor the boat to the dock) well I tried catching myself and landed on that, split my foot wide open and put 12 stitches in it! OUCH! what a great way to end my 4th of July!! lol. So it was no fun running thru the sand setting everything up! but I still had a job to do and nothing was gonna detour from that!

So the wedding went very well! started off playing some jazz for the cocktail hour, and then lead right into dinner hour with the classics(frank sinatra, dean martin, michael buble) you know.. the greats! I even had one of the brides recommend some great music that served its purpose for dinner music as well! [Booty swing - Parov Stellar] wow! what great music! you have to look it up! I cant wait to get more of this stuff! Anyways.. after that I went into some great blues that a friend suggested that I get and wow that went over so well! so many blues lovers there! it wasnt your typical blues either, it was upbeat and fun, PLUS I did a great job at picking the right ones! now during the blues music, the dad came out with some floating lanterns, and asked everyone to come and light them up and have them sail away! so cool. gonna do this at the end of my reception!!!

On to the rest of the night, after the cake cutting.. I went right into some great disco music! had the dance floor packed, or should I say beach floor(hahaha) and kicked the rest of the night away with some great current music liek Florida, Jennifer Lopez, Usher and Pitbull. just some great wedding dance music!

Now.. they didnt do the traditional stuff like the Father/Daughter Mother/Son dance, and thats fine.. thats their choice. i dont push the issue with any of clients.. they dont want to do a certain formality.. fine. does it take away from the whole experience.. sure. but not my call :)

So they did the cutting of the cake, I was super happy that al least did that! and I think they really enjoyed it! after thinking about it!

I didnt get too many pics because they asked not too, some people dont mind.. and some people do! I will post what i have and hope everyone enjoyed this little blog about my wedding experience!

Gerg & Jessicas Wedding - DJ Henry GQ - www.djhenrygq.com

What a great day it was for Greg & Jessicas Wedding reception. It was held in the Pogue Center at the Edinboro University. the staff was awesome! the food was great! and guests were tons of fun! the one thing I loved about this couple is that they didnt have any alcohol at their wedding but still knew how to party like it was the end of the world! the songs they selected for their first dance, mother/son, father daughter dances were insanely creative! both huge lovers of classic rock and just great rock in general they knew that they created a unique experience! and I was glad to help!!!

heres some pics and a testimonial from the reception!! super excited!!
